"The History of Trunks" TV Special Story

Note: This is based on the Funimation dub of "The History of Trunks" TV special.

This special starts with Gohan running, or rather hopping, home. When he gets there, he finds his father, Goku, dead from a terrible heart virus. Months later, Androids 17 and 18 are created by Dr. Gero. They soon kill their creator. They start going on a rampage, eventually killing all the Z-fighters besides Gohan. Since Piccolo died, Kami died and the Dragonballs were turned to stone. 13 years pass, and Gohan became a Super Saiyan when he saw the rest of the Z-fighters die. He has been trying to destroy the andriods, but he always proves unsuccessful and is forced to flee. Master Roshi, Puar, and Oolong are hiding in a submarine outside of Kame House. In a city, 18 is trying on many clothes, and the salesman tells her they are free out of fear. She spares him, but then 17 kills him. The androids play games with the humans, getting points for every human they kill. They eventually start a huge fire and leave.Trunks hears about an attack on the radio and he leaves Bulma to go fight the androids. He gets there and sees all the damage. Then Gohan arrives. They go to Capsule Corperation. Trunks asks Gohan to train him so that he can fight the androids. Gohan accepts him as a pupil. Then Bulma arrives at Capsule Corp. Then Bulma makes them both dinner. Gohan starts training Trunks the next day to become a Super Saiyan. One night, Trunks is so close to becoming a Super Saiyan. Another day, 17 and 18 are terrorizing a theme park. Gohan and Trunks go to intercept the androids. Gohan tells Trunks to stay out of the way while he fights 17. After some fighting, Gohan turns into a Super Saiyan. When Gohan deals a strong blow to the android, 18 steps in. The 2 androids start fighting together, trying to kill Gohan once and for all. Trunks steps in, and 18 starts fighting him while 17 continues to fight Gohan. 18 aims a blast at Trunks, but Gohan interferes. 17 fires a blast at Trunks, and it knocks him out. 18 fires another blast, but Gohan takes the hit. He then carries Trunks off the battlefield. He hides, and the androids lose sight of Gohan. They shoot up energy blasts at random places. These blasts take off one of Gohan's arms. The androids eventually leave. Gohan gives Trunks the last Sensu Bean and then passes out. Bulma is designing a time machine when Trunks brings in Gohan. Eventually he is bandaged by a doctor and wakes up. Gohan continues to train Trunks into becoming a Super Saiyan. When they are talking, they see an explosion, and Gohan turns into a Super Saiyan. Trunks tries to go with him, but Gohan knocks him out. The androids are tied in killing human points, so they decide Gohan is the tie breaker. Soon, they kill Gohan together with a barage of energy blasts. Eventually Trunks regains consciousness and flies to help Gohan. When he finds Gohan dead, he turns into a Super Saiyan. 3 years later, Bulma has almost finished her time machine. Bulma has planned that Trunks will go back in time to give Goku the antidote to the heart virus he would get before the androids appeared. Trunks sees a television report about the androids attacking. He grabs his sword, flies off, and turns into a Super Saiyan. Trunks starts fighting with 17 and 18. Soon Trunks is rendered helpless, and 17 blasts him, and then the androids are about to leave him for dead, but then he gets up. Then he is beaten out of the Super Saiyan transformation. Then he is blasted by Android 18 and they leave him to die. Bulma finds him and nurses him back to health. He agrees to wait until he can use the time machine, and then take the antidote to Goku. When Trunks is back to health, she writes the word "hope" on the time machine, and he jumps in. Then he goes back to the day Frieza and King Cold arrived on Earth. In the credits, it is shown what he does in Dragonball Z.
